    TOTALLY AGREE with last post!
We are newly 'poor' due to my wife's recent heart-attack and subsequent lack of earnings. As such, we're new to all aspects of the benefits system. We had no idea it was so complicated - there are so many twists and turns. WHY OH WHY do they take tax from people earning less than a liveable wage only to recycle this through tax credits, family allowance etc etc. STOP tax credits, lift anyone on less than £15k out of taxation and give families a higher threshold. It's madness ... THANKS FOR LISTENING!!

Gordon organises the tax system like this cos it gives jobs to the boys. All part of him being able to massage the unemployment figures.

Agreed - there's still Income Support/SS for those with no income. I just think that those on very modest incomes should keep much more of their £££. Taxing you at 20% for those on £5000 odd is plain daft. As for benefits, we walked away from the SS place with a wad of claim forms with the mantra 'If in doubt, fill it out!'.
