I have checked the actual website of london underground
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14416.aspx
The price seems to be £7.70 for the route that I'm looking for, zone 1-4 and was wondering if there's anyway to get cheaper prices
Here's my situation:
I will be in London today around 9 o clock and then I'd go to zone 4 from the city centre, after that I'll go out and eat and have a night out - the underground works till 3-4 am I believe.
The second day I will be going out as well, I will stay within zone 1-4 and I understand that in this case I'll have to pay £7.70 as is off-peak.
The third day,all I will do is go to zone one to get back to manchester so could buy a single, which will be £5.50
Now my total cost for roughly 3 days(in practicality a lot less) is £20.9. Do you think I can get something better than this or this is it?
Thanks

Te first day, is it just the one trip, zone 1 to 4, then staying in zone 4 overnight?
 If you use an oystercard
you will be charged £2.70 for each individual up to a cap of £7.70
The trip back on the last day, will be one trip from zone 4 to 1, so will cost you £2.70.
do you already have the ticket from manchester ?
if not, you might be able to include london travel within that ticket so you can then just spend £8 on a travel card for day too0

Today I will go to zone 4 but then I will be moving around to go out so ultimately I will be using different zones(most likely) that in effect will be £7.70
I am not from London so I don't have an oyster card.
£2.70? It shows £5.50 on their website, £2.7 is under the oyster card domain, which I don't have.
Yes I have the ticket with megabus and I don't think they have the option to include travel within london.0

Buy an oyster card at the first tube station you go to?
If you want the convenience of paying cash, pay cash prices0

I've just checked the price out of an oyster card, it will be £18 with £15 loaded in it. The problem is that the price is fine if £18 is all I'll spend in those 3 days; however the second day I might go around london a lot and therefore use the underground buses, all this might take all the credit out and therefore I'll have to buy a ticket ultimately, which will result me in paying more than £20.90

Oyster card caps at £7.70 per day for off peak journeys and an off travel card for zones 1-4 is £8 per day. For fewer off peak journeys an Oyster card is the cheapest option, but you do have the hassle of writing off to claim a refund of the deposit and any money left on it (or if it is a small amount you may be able to get a refund from a tube station office at the end of your journey, before you leave London).
The underground does not run until 4am (that was only during the Olympics and on New years Eve), however the night buses will be running. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk to plan your journey using the night buses.0

yeah I just confused what time the underground closes. Last time I been there was on new year so that's why the confusion.
Anyway I don't think there was much that could have been reduced.
Ultimately I saved a few quids (better than nothing)
 First day(well more of a night) £8
 Second day £8
Third day(I used a spare oyster from my friend) £2.7 for single to zone 1
 yay some saving 0 0
