Hi all,
Neither my wife or I are what you'd call creative but our kids are doing the Barnardo's Toddle at nursery in a few weeks time. They are meant to be doing it in fancy dress and the theme chosen by the staff (thanks!!) is mini beasts! It's not exactly inspired is it? Dressing your children up as ants, beetles, worms, frogs, snails etc. About the best one is a ladybird.
Anyway, want to stick with the them where we can. We have a 16 month old son and a 4 year old daughter and desperately need ideas on how we can come up with some cheap costumes for them both! Can anyone help?

Hi does your daughter have angel wings coz she could go as a butterfly and it would save u spending money if she has a pair. If not I'm sure you could find a cheap set. I know you say neither of you are creative but if your daughter has a hair band attach pipe cleaners onto it then just put a pom pom on the end of the pipe cleaners and there you go lovely butterfly antennas.

The picture isn't great but it will give you a rough idea. The picture is the one at the top click on it to see it bigger
For your son I'm still thinking will get back to you

buy a yellow cheap t shirt and black fabric paint - paint stripes on the tee and team with black tights - voila your son is a wasp or a bee (add antennae if you dare or just use face paint)
your daughter can easily be a butterfly or something by using cheap angel wings from Claires and a pretty dress - again paint the face0 -
Maybe your not creative but hopefully one of you can sew!!! Dress your son all in black, if your wife has old black tights (2 pairs) stuff them with newspaper sew them on and he can be a spider.

Or do you know anyone that has a spiderman outfit, might look quite sweet!!

For a worm you could dress child in brown & paint on darker brown stripes to represent the rings
or
how about a dragonfly two pairs of angel wings (maybe covered in that iridescant paper you can get in craft shops) with either blue, green or red tights to be the body bit...I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0
