It was all going so smoothly...

Accepted an offer on our 2-bedroom flat in May, found a perfect 3-bedroom house also in May and our offer was accepted due to such a short chain (they had been renting the house and wanted to sell it as it's currently vacant).

Both the purchaser and vendor told us they wanted to move quickly which is fine with us as we'd like to not hang around.

I managed to complete all of the fixtures/fitting/leasehold forms and obtain an agreed mortgage offer within 2 weeks. Purchasers have done the same and now have their mortgage offer after 4 weeks.

It all then went quiet for 2 weeks with no updates from anyone. All of our paperwork is in place and both ourselves and purchasers are ready for exchange.

Unfortunately, the vendors are split between Kent and Australia (not mentioned at the time of the offer)! Even though they don't have a mortgage to arrange, our solicitors are yet to receive any of the fixtures/fittings/contract forms from the person in Australia. Apparently 'they were posted weeks ago'. Our solicitors didn't get much joy so I found this out via the vendor's EA.

They have now apparently posted the forms again, but surely for a house value of £300k they could spend £10 on Fedexing the documentation via Air to the UK?! I have since found out that they've only posted the one form, not any of the others that are needed.

The vendors had specified a very tight completion date of 5th July. We tried hard to accommodate this, hence pushing everything through so quickly, and now we find it's the vendors who are holding it all up.

So frustrating :rotfl:

Rant over, sorry :o

I know the feeling... we can't get our keys because of the vendor's vendor!
