I'd have to agree, there's something not right. Some of my items that would normally be popular just aren't getting any views. I've had one item on ebay for a month, no interest. Listed it on amazon this morning, sold within an hour! Another victory for amazon (I really like amazon these days, much better than ebay in almost every respect).

I can also say there is something not right about item visibility. I created a new eBay account to run in conjunction with my old one. I created a new item on the new account and listed it. Waited a day, and tried searching for it using the exact title of the item. And it didn't show. Next day it DID show. Following day it didn't, etc etc...

eBay need to become more like Amazon. I don't see anyone moan about Amazon.

Actually when I was selling a lot on there and used to read the amazon seller boards there were always the same theories. The difference in sales between one day and the next, and the fact that very often books would disappear from view was very frustrating.

Hmmm, I've never really thought about it, but the thing about having a flurry of sales all in one region certainly rings true. I've always just assumed that it's people who know each other and say, "nice item, where did you get that from?" and then buy one themselves. Maybe I'm naïve. * Puts on tinfoil hat too *

I've obviously been 'switched back on'. Again four days with no sales, then since last night, three sales.

    Coincidence ??

Even here, at the other end of the scale, as a private seller, things look a bit weird: I listed an item and immediately saw a viewer. Then I got two bids from different eBayers, but only one viewer! - How on earth can at least one bidder bid on an item without viewing it???

[The viewer count has since increased].

Could be, but this is the second time it's happened. Exactly four days and then it kicks back in Well check to see the exact date it happened before

Edit: It was the 12th to 16th June so the end of the month theory doesn't apply there

There are things that influence the fits and starts of eBay sales. The weekend, especially when raining. Payday or month-end. Your competitors stock levels bottoming out or their holidays or changes in price. Your type of product being mentioned on TV, sometimes regional TV. Your product is associated with a certain time of year; jam making, things related to the season for example.

My MVLs are not seasonal, or specific to any time of the year or time of day. I do not see any surge in sales at end of month. Yet I can sell 4- 6 a day , day in day out then suddenly go 3 days with no sales at all- before going straight back to 4-6 a day. I am always near the top on Best Match, but sometimes cannot see my stuff at all when i browse as a guest.
