I assume you have two different surnames, and have chosen to redirect for around 3 months? If so then yes this is correct. We have currently done this but we have same surnames so its one fee. Mail arrives a few days later than normal, but all going ok so far.

Worth forking out for though, because when I didn't someone took out a gas and electricity account in my name and then didn't pay the bills!

I didn't find out until the company found my new address years and sent a Final Demand. Luckily they were suspicious anyway so I just sent them proof I was living at my present address when the bills were accumulated and it was wiped :)

    Another life lesson learnt...

It's not compulsory(although it makes good sense as described above). When we moved I took it out for six months and then extended it for a further three and regard it as money well spent.

I've done it. I'm just double thinking every cost as we've spent a small fortune so far!

I would make sure it covers the Christmas period as a minimum, because there are always people who send you cards etc, and who you've forgotten ...

For that reason alone, it's worth forking out. I redirect for a year when I move.

It's best to write to people also with your change of address, as Royal Mail unfortunately do let a few letters slip through.

Oh, and don't be too surprised to find redirected mail in your envelope that actually should not have been!:eek::eek::eek:

Some still slips through though - my last tenant paid for it and I still got a few letters for him. I think its down to the variation in the way names are written, they might recognise you as Mr/Mrs M Doggy, or Mr/Mrs Doggy, but not Mr/Mrs Monty Doggy.
