Hi
I ordered a handbag line in the Debenhams Blue Cross Sale. It was advertised at 70% off - original price £79.00 so sale price £23.70. I ordered two of the bags but when they arrive the original price tag was £59.00. I had a look in store today and could see that the bags had an original price sticker of £79.00 but had a price sticker underneath of £59.00. I am going to keep the bags anyway but I do feel a bit cheated and think this is not right. What should I do? Is this legal? Thanks

So saving £35.30 is not enough for you?
Fact is you got over 50% off the price.
Unless you are one of these sad people that like to brag that they got x% of a product what is the issue..... Unless you simply no longer want the bags and are looking for a way out of paying.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Shops do that all the time.
Tell you it's half price, but that is off the full original price and not the price that the bags may already have been on sale for.
Another one, put the price up for a month or so, then say 50% off, when really it is only 25% off what they were a month ago or even in some cases the same.
Finally I've said it before, the Argos sale are full of items, that have been on sale at the same price before, or in some cases have been on sale for an even lower price!!!! before.
The only true bargain seems to be, when an item is discounted the very first time or when they just want rid of items and therefore go to the lowest price ever by some distance.0 -
I love the bag and will be keeping it. I do think is is very good value at the sale price. What I object to is being misled. I think they were selling the bag at the original price of £59.00 and then put the price up to £79 so the reduction looked more impressive.0

I am not stupid, I know how much I paid for the bag. I object to being referred to as 'one of those sad people who like to brag'. I think your response is both rude and unhelpful. The issue is being misled by the store who I think are deceitful by advertising a price that was inflated just to make the reduction look better.0 -
Did the bag specifically say 70% off? I walked past a poster today advertising the Debenhams blue cross sale and it clearly says up to 70% off so not every sale item will be the full 70%0

Hi
Yes I'd did specifically say 70% off. I ordered it online where you can search for items that are only 70% off. It showed the original price as £79.00. It was just when it arrived that the price tag showed £59.00. When it looked at the one instore it had another sticker on top of the £59.000 showing a price of £79.00 so they had obviously put the price up by £20.00 at some point. I think that is how they can get away with it if they have sold it at the higher price for a certain amount of time.0
