Not 100% correct. If all the accounts sit on the Halifax systems then transfer is instananeous... however if I recall correctly then the BOS IASA account still sits on the old BOS systems.
I have just transferred from my Halifax web save to my BOS IASA. Transfer was instantaneous.A better solution might be to transfer your excess to a Sainsbury's Bank Internet Saver. This sits on the same platform as all Halifax Accounts and as a result transfers to this from Halifax are done instantaneously.
This works provided you set up a transfer as "Transfer money to another account with us".0 -
They must now both sit on the same system as jem16 says, i did a transfer before my post Halifax->Bos IASA-> Halifax, where the last transfer back was larger than initial balance... online balance changes instantly, so i beleive its now instantanious.
As I said, I'm really only using it for a float to maintain my halifax HICA at £2500. even 1 days delay(back into current account) isn't suitable for what i'm really after.
And do halifax start to accrue interest the day after bacs transfer, i.e. 2 days lost?0 -

I was going to email my disgust at this pathetic increase but they don't seem to have any email addresses on their website. It looks like this accounts low rate is subsidising their headline grabbing current account rate.
After tax this is an increase of 0.04%. What can we do? The only reason I have this account is so I have somewhere to easily stick money when the balance in my current account rises above £2,500 (Above £2500 they pay only 0.1%)
I doubt they even need to subsidise the headline grabbing current account, since it charges something like 17% for the overdraft (can't remember the exact figure) I would imagine it subsidises itself with customers who do go overdrawn.
Da MoronIf you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

I got my IASA account and I can see it on my Halifax accounts with the initial deposit in it, but I can`t access it, because it says "awaiting details".
How do I activate it,do they send another letter with instructions about doing it?0 -
They will send out a form for you to sign along with a request for any ID if needed. Have you received and returned that form?0

A better solution might be to transfer your excess to a Sainsbury's Bank Internet Saver. This sits on the same platform as all Halifax Accounts and as a result transfers to this from Halifax are done instantaneously. It is a bit complex in that you have to maintain a separate online banking service (Sainsbury's Bank accounts don't show on Halifax or BOS online banking), but you get 6.0% interest in return, and no delays between transfers (need to confirm that this applies in the opposite direction .. Sainsbury's to Halifax, although the worst case scenario would be overnight).
Just tried out transfers in both directions.
Halifax/BOS --> Sainsburys = instant
Sainsburys --> Halifax/BOS = overnight0
