travel insurance and osteopaths

Hello
I recently took out travel insurance for a trip in August. I hadn't been to the doctors about my painful hip and back at that point but I had been to an osteopath. Therefore I didn't declare it on the medical questionnaire as I wasn't awaiting examination or tests. Anyway, 2 days after taking out the insurance I went to the doctor. I explained that I had had the problem for a while, but did not mention seeing an osteopath. I am unlikely to have to claim for this on holiday, but should I call back and declare it anyway? The doctor and subsequent visit to a different osteopath have both diagnosed different things.
Please help! Thanks.

You need to read your policybook as almost all insurers will define pre-existing as including those conditions for which you are suffering symptoms of even if you havent had a diagnosis. The challenge is that without a definitive diagnosis insurers can be very twitchy about providing cover.0

The policy just mentioned a diagnosis by a GP, which I didn't have when I took out the policy. They were happy to cover me with no exclusions. Days after taking the policy out I had a diagnosis of a 'pulled hip muscle'. I was then probably too honest and rang the insurance company to double check that I was covered. In the event of a claim I didn't want any comeback with 'pre existing symptoms' although they didn't ask me that. Anyway, I told the insurance company that I'd had the symptoms, undiagnosed, for a while (this would be on my medical records as I'd told the GP). At this point they excluded all claims relating to the hip. They will charge me £50 to cover it. My question is now: I am considering returning to my GP for a second opinion. If the doctor suggests tests and/or rediagnoses it as something different, do I need to declare it again? What if I pay the £50, go back for a second opinion and get a different diagnosis? Which one am I covered for? This is all very confusing! If I mention seeing an osteopath to my GP, can that be used against me in the event of a claim. I really would like a second opinion from a different GP, but how would this affect my travel insurance? I'm annoyed with myself because the insurers were happy to cover me until I pushed them about pre existing symptoms. All they were worried about was about whether I'd seen a GP which I hadn't at that point. Can I challenge their decision to make the exclusion after I intially passed all medical screening questions? Please help!0
