Endsleigh won't cancel contents policy

!!!!!!s.
After having my Endsleigh home contents policy since 2006 (and having been an Endsleigh customer since about 1997 in total), we are cancelling the policy because we are moving out of our rental and in to an owned home, for which we have taken out requisite buildings and contents insurance with an alternative supplier.
That means I have requested cancellation of the Endsleigh policy, which renews in January.
Unfortunately, Endsleigh will not cancel on the basis that a claim was successfully made earlier this year.
I have raised a complaint about this. Endsleigh has certainly got its lifetime value from me over the years. At current monthly rate, I have probably paid them about £2,500 in the life of this policy.
This clause was, it seems, in the contract. However, I think it's unfair.
1) Any advice on how to get out of this?
2) A word of warning to other customers to consider making claims carefully if they are on the verge of changing circumstance.

When you say they won't cancel do you mean they won't allow a refund for the remainder of the year?First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

It's very common, if not universal, that no refund of premium is allowed if a claim has been made during the life of the policy. I'm sure they will allow you to cancel, but given that you won't get any money back it might have been sensible to at least investigate whether transferring the policy to the new property and getting separate buildings cover would have worked out cheaper.0

In that case you would be responsible for the full yearly premium following the claim.
That's pretty much an industry standard for most kinds of insuranceFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
So it's not that they won't let you cancel then is it?0
