Can anyone please advise me?I defaulted March 2008 on a mortgage-took until Jan.2010 to sell house to clear mortgage but payments were late between March 08 and end of mortgage in Jan. 10.
My question is will everything to do with this default(ie;late payments after default) disappear in March/April 2014 as I am saving a deposit and want to apply for a new mortgage.
Have built up a no late payments credit history with Vanquis card,on electoral role, zero balanceson cc's(occasional use)Etc.
This is the only blip on my credit file and really want to get a house early next year. Thanks for any help.

Yes, the default will come off your credit files after 6 years from the date of default. This will likely be several months after March as a default would not be applied until after 'n' months of missing payments. Have you checked your credit file recently?0

Thanks Boss for your reply.Yes,checked credit files and the default was registered on March 8th 2008 and so I guess a month or so after March 8th 2014 the default will go.Will the late payments between March 8th 2008 and January 2010(when the house sold and mortgage was paid off) associated also disappear or remain for another 2 years, scuppering my chances of a new mortgage?Thanks.0

i think all account information corresponding to the defualt is removed 6 years from the date of default, so 6 years from the day of default the next day all of the account information will be removed from your credit file i had 2 defaults and the both disapeard 6 years from the defualt date and all payment history was wiped clean from my file leaving no trace of it anywhere! yay!!0

Yep, all the data will come off. Remember to check your file in late March/early April to ensure it has come off before applying for your mortgage - and kick the CRAs butts if it hasn't.0

Edit : check both your Experian and Equifax reports in March/April.0
