Last minute hols in August???

Hi all, I have approx 10 days off work in August (from the 6th onwards) child free so we are hoping to squeeze in some sun.

Do you think there will be any last minute bargains to had, even though it is in the middle of the school holidays.

We are wondering whether to just bite the bullet now and book or sit and wait...

We are looking at Spain and Portugal mainly...

I dunno, you're maybe at that point now where pricing is at the highest it'll be - in which case, there's not much to lose financially.
Maybe something will show up as a late deal, maybe it won't

People who do book in good time tend to fill up the best places early so late deals are often not at the top of a lot of folks lists but you can always check on Trip Advisor for absolute dumps.
Turkey is the most likely destination for late deals with Greece behind that.

    To summarise - flip a coin :)

a late deal in the school holidays is all the apartments, hotels, destinations and flight times that no-one else wanted

Try Ola Holidays, they also advertise on teletext and icelolly, but there are always extras to add on!! Still cheap mind you.

I'm currently looking for july21 st ish for ten days and have found DIY holidays for under a grand for three of us, but they are taking some finding as decent cheap accommodation is gone.

Will book to or row as need to decide which to choose- nice there's options. Ryanair flights are bargains at mo and this may change anytime

Can depend on the weather here. If its nice weather between now and then, there may be a few bargains about, if the weather is rubbish here people get fed up and start booking holidays and the prices rise and availability lessens. If you see a price and holiday you're happy with book it now. Tunisia and Turkey are the cheapest, Spain always sells well.

    Ryanair
    Manchester to Tenerife South 24/7
    Tenerife South to Manchester 2/8
    £640

    Paloma Beach Apartments 9 nights
    £391

Doesn't exactly fit your dates and it's only 9 nights but it's pretty much in budget and the accommodation is the best you'll get at that price.

We have a week booked off from work for the last week of the school holidays.

The plan is almost rock up to the airport and see what they have.

We have done this before, don't book until inside 5 days to departure, that's when the travel companies get twitchy. Call them up, tell them your budget (less 20%) and see what they offer. If like us you are happy to make the best of it and just want a bed, pool and a beach for the kids it seems to work.
    I'll let you know.
