if you have learned so little about human weaknesses and the need for support then sadly I can't explain it to you.
Sorry.
As I understanding staffing levels in Job Centre are not increasing in fact the budget has been cut. So all that will happen is the time allocated to one person will be the same only spread over 2 weeks.0 -

maybe you are right and maybe you are wrong, maybe they will use their time better but more regular contact will benefit many.0 -
because it encourages people to try and actually apply for real jobs and can to given confidence and be given support.
better daily
The perople who actually want jobs will be going more than once a fortnight anyway. They will likely be using the internet too.
I don't know anyone who is actively looking for work who has thought "oh, I'll only go look once every two weeks".0 -

yes we agree
if people are already going once or more a week then no problem
for those that aren't but need the encouragement/ support/help then once a week is better than once every 2 weeks.0 -
maybe maybe not; but what has that got to do with going to the job center to discuss job searching and issues once a week?
Well you asked the question as to what those working in the black market will do if they have to attend the job centre more often. AS you implied they are breaking the law by working and signing on. My point is so are the people who employ them in their black market jobs.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

now I can say that I employed a tradesman to do work on my property recently and paid him cash.
also I have shopped at Tescos and paid cash
I also bought a newspaper this week is a 'corner' shop and paid cash
I paid cash to my window cleaner
I bought some beer in my club and paid cash
Now tell me
what exactly should I have done in each situation?0 -

Nothing. As a consumer you should do nothing different. Whoever employs the people that provide the services you buy should of course employ them legally and declare this to HMRC.
Edit: The issue is that pubs who employ bar staff "cash in hand" is just as guilty as the person employed cash in hand who also signs of as unemployed.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment.
