are people jealous of disabled people?

hi all,my partners new disability car delivery date was 17 june now its simply unknown so i posted a tongue in cheek rant over on the kia forums.one person said "its free what are you moaning about" so i posted the details as to how my partner suffers which i dont want to go into right now but i will in a pm if anyone is interested.ignoring the facts he went on to call us beggars so i complained to admin who promptly told him off and edited the posts with my permission.the point im making is that 200 people popped in to read the post and only one person said anything in support and one was a troll so am i right in thinking people dont care or are somehow jealous about a so called free car your opinions and or storys would be appreciated.

I don't think anyone is jealous of the disability but people do seem to resent disability benefits. I can't drive so just keep the mobility money for journeys and access to work and that's not the right thing to do with it either so I just don't discuss it with anyone.

The Tory propaganda machine led by IDS, whose mouthpieces the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph has led a very successful campaign of disinformation about welfare benefits.

The sheep who follow them and the jealous who abuse us are to be pitied.

It looks like that we will have to put up with this 'them and us' situation for quite some time.

But please don't forget that " we are all in this together".

The people I know, including myself, don't have an issue at all with people with physical disability having a mobility car that they use themselves for their own transport.

I do have an issue when entitlement to mobility is seen as an opportunity. Unfortunately, it happens. I had a friend who moaned that she was going to loose her car because her son was expected to lose his entitlement to it and she wouldn't be able to come and visit her boyfriend any longer (who lived miles away and visited every other week-end...without her son most of the time). She was expecting sympathy when she shared this information, but got none.

I do have issue with an elderly person getting mobility for their children to use the car, hence not needing to buy one of their own to transport their brood, and justifying it by taking that parent with them when they go shopping and claiming they do it for the parent.

Again, these are specific cases. I wouldn't share my opinion unless I knew the claimant fit into these categories.

In my experience, people are jealous of the fact that the disabled get a "free" car . I have lost count of the number of times I have had to point out that it is not " free ", it is paid for out of DLA.
These people have expressed great surprise as they thought that the car was in addition to the DLA payment.
Mind you some of these folk believe that those with Down's Syndrome should not be allowed to live in the community :(
