Twenty-odd years ago DH was taught to plaster by his then GF's grandad, who was an old-school craftsman who specialised in all the intricate moulded covings etc. He's never lost the ability which has served us very well over the years as we've tackled quite a few project houses that have required whole rooms re-plastering. One house was around 3500 sq ft and IIRC he did every room except the cellar

The only thing he's not so keen on is plastering a ceiling. Fortunately despite living in several old houses, we've never had a ceiling collapse or be beyond repair, but when we had our new kitchen extension built last year he got the builders to plaster the double-height ceiling although he plastered the walls himself. The builders were blooming quick......although tbh I found the builders far messier and their finish wasn't smooth as glass as DH's is
