Survey on a 3 year old new build/Persimmon Home?

Options
Hello!

First time buyer here. I'm buying a new-ish build - a Persimmon home that was built in 2010. I've read all the Persimmon threads on MSE, which makes me think I should get a full survey done! Is it worth getting a homebuyers or structural survey on a build that's 3 years old?

Thanks!

We had a homebuyers on a 7yr old house last year ... the survey co. advised against it!! Upto you ... for a little extra it gives you some peace of mind.

If I was in the position of buying a "nearly new" Persimmon build I would definitely go for at least the homebuyers report in case the previous owners hadn't been that thorough in their snagging etc. or just not taken care of certain parts of the house and hidden it well to the casual observer.

Structurally: As it will be NHBC warranty covered for a 10 year period which covers all major structural defects, and 3 years ago the NHBC (independent to the builders checks) would have done all their structural checks the likelihood of structural issues should be minimal.

So getting a structural survey done yourself is up-to-you. If anything were to go wrong after moving e.g. in a few years time then you know that NHBC will sort it, but if you want added piece of mind now before moving then yes go for it (a lot of these surveys are seemingly more about putting your mind at ease)

If you were buying 10+ year old place so out of warranty I would say always get a structural survey just to be sure..
