If it wasn't for the fact it has a prohibition against permanent occupation, maybe a BTL investor would be interested.0

My first reaction when seeing this yesterday was that it'd be a good investment if the expectation was for the property to last more than 2 years, the cost of purchasing it vs. renting a similar property would mean that after 2 years it would pay for itself! After seeing that it's not allowed to be occupied... why bother.0

Buy it.
Set up loads of internal/external camers.
Wait.
Then sell the footage to some daft TV company....slow motion of the highlights spread across the next 3 years.....!0 -
The one that collapsed next door was bought "sight unseen" at auction sometime last year, and half of it disappeared over the cliff during the winter.
Not sure why the permanent residency prohibition has been put on it, as its in a residential street. Maybe would make a high-end holiday let whilst its still standing.0 -
Who was mad enough to renovate it?Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0

No-one in their right mind, surely, would buy it? They're planning to close off the cul-de-sac, so you won't even be able to get to it soon. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

They are "gating" it so access will still be permitted for residents. They are closing the street to prevent sight-seeing, as people are going there to photograph the collapsed house and residents are kicking up about the traffic etc.0 -
I would, if I had £25k that I was quite happy to wave goodbye to.
I reckon you'd get c 3-5years out of that, use it as a holiday home for that period.I have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.
