Sneaky Sky

Has anyone else been left internet-less on moving into a new home thanks to Sky and their policy of stopping the phone line of the place their customers are leaving? We moved in mid-May and it has taken us almost two months to get online due to the fact that Sky won't do anything until their existing customer lets them know that the incoming people (i.e. us) do not want Sky and to take the stop off the line.

We complained to OFCOM, but I don't think that will do anything. I thought this was such a sneaky and dishonourable method of trying to get new business.

It sounds a bit too sneaky to actually be allowed. I think if I encountered it I'd order with BT or TalkTalk who will both install new lines for free and say I had no line. There may still be a longish leadtime though due to the terminally inefficient and unaccountable Openreach.
