Old asda credit card

in Reclaim PPI & other insurance
I'm looking at reclaiming my ppi from an old credit card that was through asda but then taken over by santander.
I cancelled the ppi because i didn't actually know what it was. The guy who organised the card just ticked boxes.
Would i have to write to santander as they took the card over? I cancelled the ppi before it was taken over.
If my card is now with a debt collection can i still claim the ppi back?

    You complain to whoever owned the card whn you no longer had it.
    If you are or were in arrears, if you are successful, the redress can and most probably will be used against any amounts written off first.

    GE money used to own the card under the asda name so would i contact them?

    I don't mind if it goes towards clearing my account means less to pay off
