Council Tax..can they do this?

Is it worth trying to explain this to the non-understanding robots who work there or is it pretty much up to us to have a contingency plan?
Of course it doesn't occur to the idiots running the finance depts in our local authorities that if someone is struggling to pay £100 a month then they are hardly likely to be able to pay off £1000 in one go !
It's great every month for us idiotic robots being insulted by aggressive 'customers' who think they can pay when they feel like it. The first thing to consider is if people pay at the end of the month, then the local authority is having to borrow money to make up the shortfall of what needs to pay to central government. this obviously comes at an interest cost to the authority and will mean higher taxes next year for the whole of the local populace.
If you get paid at the end of the month, then pay at the end of march and then everyone's life is easier and us 'idiots' can concentrate on the people who don't pay at all like people who pay late always tell us too.it's not the council's fault your band is wrong, blame the Valuation Office !!!!! :rolleyes:0 -

Thanks for putting us straight on that point...and there I was thinking that the likes of us who do actually pay(albeit a bit late)were doing so to cater for those who cant be bothered to or fall into a 'category' where there not expected to..:j0 -
Hi, I have read this thread with interest and would like to inform any scottish people that the S.N.P and liberal democrats are phasing out council tax in Scotland to be replaced with a local income tax. The SNP want 3p in the £ and the liberal demos want it varied throughout the country depending on your local council. Will we ever find a fair way of paying this tax.....shrewdal0

I should by rights be on council tax benefit but due to them wanting personal client information (ie names, addresses emails) from our self employed accounts, we don't get any. Surfice to say I find it very hard to pay on time and even if they withdrew the facility to pay monthly they would not get their money any sooner as I just cannot do it.Loving the dtd thread. x0

Ok thanks.I thought that may be the case.
Out of interest what would be the scenario if you got paid say 15th or 21st in the month instead of 1st like most people.
Is it worth trying to explain this to the non-understanding robots who work there or is it pretty much up to us to have a contingency plan?
Cheers
Also, the 'non-understanding robots' cashiers are not able to vary the date, they have to abide by what they have been told to do.
Pay in advance and thger is no problem, you can pay it on whatever date you like. If you need to start paying in April, pay on whatever date you chose in March.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Snap! Hadn't seen your post when I posted!:rotfl:(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Why do they need client details? If you have a signed set of accounts then that should suffice.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I understand they plan to freeze the current council tax for two years and then introduce the new tax. Mind you all this still has to get passed in the Scottish Parliament. We all evolve - get on with it0 -

We gave them all our records, access to our Ebay records and our basic paypal ie what we had withdrawn, we left out nothing. We could not prove what we payed for things as they are mostly from car boots. However after all this they wanted every single transaction listing from paypal which would have included all the personal information.
Edit: we do all our own accounts and self tax.Loving the dtd thread. x0
