When we come accross this problem, we approached it in a completely different way. I'd found traces of a few naughty sites after the boy (mid teens) had used the computer. Now I remember what a sneaky bleeder I was when I was his age, and we reasoned that if I put blocks in place, he would do his best to find a way round the blocks. After all, not all 'naughty' sites have obvious names (so I'm told.....lol).
Instead of stopping him completely, I bookmarked a couple of free naughty sites that I knew had legal content and didn't try to install loads of spyware/viruses if you clicked a link. We then spoke with him, and requested that if he was going to look at these sites, could he use the bookmarks I put there for him.
This seemed a pretty reasonable way around the problem. Teenage boys are always going to be inquisitive, and this way I knew he wasn't going to pick up any nasties on the computer. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
