Help would be better than intervention though.

Intervention is basically checking you have satisfied your conditionality to warrant recieving a payment.
What help would you like from JCP? Have you asked for what it is you feel may help?

They do not even check my job applications now and have told me every time 'you are writing down too many job applications' 'only write 6 a week'!!!

Well you tell me what help they can give you to get an interview?

CV ok, cover letter ok, had a job for over 24 years never been out of work, supervised a team, lack of interviews due to being over qualified or out of work and I have that in writing and in the beginning I gave all these replies to the JC and they just shrugged their shoulders the same as the WP do now and say 'we cant do anything about that'

i think its stupid signing on weekly because it takes away time from job search and cost the claimant money which jsa staff may reimburse, there is nothing to be gained from additional appointments, although i suspect its to stop people going on 2 week holiday; but could still go on a weeks holiday. Scotland still have fortnightly sign on for the moment.

That is becasue there is little else they can do. It is not JCP job to get a job only to help the jobseeker to help themselves to get ready for a job. There is no magic wand under the desk that can be waved and magic a job or indeed an interview. As long as you are looking at every avenue possible, considering all suitable jobs, registered with agencies in your local area and maximising every opportunity to seek work there is'nt much else.
employmet advisers are always tring to get employers to look at unemployed people and consider them before opening vacancies to the public, rarely works i'm afraid. We can offer support and advice and refer to companied specialising in C.V.'s apolications etc. It should take an hour on average to apply for every job, checking your C.V. matches the employers expectations.
All I can do is wish you luck with your jobsearch i'm afraid.
