Signing Intervals

Have been on JSA since Dec 2012. I was put onto weekly signing. In Jan i questioned this. I have been on JSA a couple of times in last 10 years & always signed fortnightly. My adviser told me that some people were randomly picked for weekly signing & i was 1 of them.

My adviser made many mistakes while i was with her. In April, the icing on the cake was making an appointment for me to attend the JC but failing to tell me about it or write it on my card. I then received a letter telling me my claim was being stopped as i had not attended an appointment that had been made for me:mad:

After speaking to the JC Head Office i was able to change JC & this started in May. After an initial interview i explained the problems i'd had with last adviser & requested to be put on fortnightly signing. This was agreed & all was well.

I have signed on today. My adviser has told me that i will sign on with another adviser in a fortnight. I then have to go back on the next day to have a meeting with my regular adviser. I don't know if this is going to be a regular or one off. This seems completely ridiculous to me. Can they do this? & is there any way to appeal to try & make them use some common sense.

Welfare changes mean most unemployed people will have to visit a JobCentre every week instead of fortnightly.

From welfare spending review published a few hours ago...http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23053693 (though it suggests visit rather than sign on).

    LOL, just read it.
So this means that the job centre will have double the work if everyone has to sign on every week.
    Dont think so somehow.

My appointments with my adviser never fall on the same day as my signing. Last week I had to go two days in a row. I have to be available at any time to go.

Singing for benefits and adviser meeting are two different things, yes sometimes the two coincide on the same day. Under universal creidt benefit will be paid monthly but you will be made to attend as often as the JCP or the governement state.
The message is the longer you are without work the more intense the intervention.

Help would be better than intervention though.

You can claim travel expenses for every compulsory attendance (outside of your normal sign-on day) such as advisor interviews!

Until they stopped sending out letters, it used to say it on them.

When did all this adviser 1 week & sign on the next week business start? As said, i've had to sign on a couple of times over the years & it was always a 2 min visit every fortnight, the majority of the time the person behind the desk did'nt even check my job search record.

Today i have signed on & had my adviser interview on the same day. Why are they now saying that they have to do it over 2 days?

Six months claiming benefits, and you are asking whether it is reasonable to ask you to come in at an inconvenient time to tell them how it's going?
    Is that ridiculous?

Weekly signing is nothing new. The last Labour goverment piloted it and quickly dropped it when exactly that happened.
