Does anyone have experience of gardenhandy.com

Hi,

Has anyone ever ordered from gardenhandy.com?

I ordered some garden furniture back in April and still have not received anything. I have phoned them on numerous occasions and they always tell me that they will ring back. However, they never do. Additionally, they have not responded to any emails that I have sent them.

To make matters worse they took my payment at the time of my order. If I've heard nothing by the end of this week I'm going to cancel my order but I'm concerned that they will not give me my money back.

If anyone has had any experience of gardenhandy please let me know.

Thanks,
Gordon.

I have similar problems. I ordered some Nova Garden table and chairs. After many excuses it eventually arrived 2 weeks after its due date but the 6 chairs were the wrong ones. For the past 2 weeks I have been calling about 3 times a day to speak to them. Mark Hannawin is the MD and only sales guy and is having all his calls screened by a girl there. It may be his wife Lynn. This girl knows my voice now and continually says he's either on the phone or unavailable! Everyday......day after day!

There is clearly something going on with Garden Handy which is a company under the Handy Trading name. They trade behind the Coach House Garden Centre in Hartley Wintney, near Basingstoke which Mark has been a partner in since 1990.

I will now start to get colleagues to call up pretending to have a query about something or want to place a telephone order which I'm sure will get Mark on the phone and then speak to him myself. I am sure that is now the only way to speak to him now and find out what is going on.

Update: I just searched a contact number for the garden centre mentioned above and called on that number and somehow managed to get hold of him! 01252 842400 This is the number. He is chasing up my chairs with Nova allegedly!!

    Good luck!
  • The items just arrived today FYI. I got it all in the end just took a month! I wouldn't use them again but you should get your items in the end!

I've also had a successful ending. After many attempts to try and find out when our furniture would be delivered I decided to cancel the order. I told them both verbally and via email. To my surprise they refunded my money almost immediately.

I will definitely not be using this company again - their customer service is non-existant.
  • Contrary to the other postings on this forum, prior to November 2007, I was not involved with the day-to-day running of gardenhandy.com. This was handled by my brother-in-law (not my husband) Mark. Any phone calls made to gardenhandy.com were answered by staff that worked for Mark. Since 2007 Mark has moved on from gardenhandy.com and I am pleased to report, so has the customer service.

I am now responsible for gardenhandy.com and oversee the day-to-day running of it. Besides striving to provide value for money I also consider customer service to be of the upmost importance. Customers are now kept well informed, payment is not taken until it is certain that goods can be delivered in an acceptable timescale to the customer (in a seasonal business the availability of stock is not an exact science ) and when things do have the misfortune of going wrong, bringing about a satisfactory conclusion is a priority.

If you have come to this forum then you will have read the negative and justified comments in the other postings but, two years on, gardenhandy.com is a different business with different principles and more customer centered business practices.

Assuring you of our best intentions.

    Lynn Hannawin
