Parking ticket some help please
Hi all, need some advice on behalf of my mother.
Live in Northern Ireland, my mum is registered disabled and has one of those blue disabled parking badges which allows her to park in certain places.
She parked near her bank were really is the only place she could of parked without having to walk a distance as she has severe arthritis, she was unsure if she could park there but one guy in another car told her it was fine he does it all the time but she says she doesnt think he actually left his car alone.
she put up her blue badge and came back 30 mins later to a parking ticket of £90 or paid within 14 days £45 even though her blue badge was visible.
she rang the agency or whatever the girl on the phone said she didnt really know but to write an appeal but if she loses she will have to pay the full fine.
myself i think its discusting how they could do this to a 60 year old woman who was trying to find somwhere to park, sure she probly shouldnt of parked there if she was unsure but how else was she supposed to get to the bank.
is there anyone i can contact to get some advice or if anyone has knowledge of what i can do ?
thanks alot hope you can help.

A blue badge doesn't give a holder the right to park just anywhere. Blue badge holders can still be penalised for causing an obstruction or parking dangerously. Without knowing whether this is the case here it is difficult to comment further.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

as far as i know the area she parked used to be a double yellow lined area, she thought it would be ok but obviously not.
seems she may just have to take the fine

The key question is, "who issued the ticket" ? If it's a private parking company then just ignore it, and ignore the several threatening follow-up letters that follow. If it's issued by either the police or the local council, then you mustn't ignore it - you can appeal if you wish ( maybe yellow lines not visible, not to regulations, etc. etc.), but don't ignore. Lots of advice on the "Parking Ticket" subsection of this board.0

The rules are constantly changing. In our town Blue Badge holders were able to park at any time on a single yellow, but this has now been withdrawn - they have to park in designated Disabled bays, and if there are none nearby, they have to find the nearest alternative instead.
You could try the appeal route and make a representation NOW. If they reject this, then they invariably allow the discounted fee to be paid in settlement, do it is worth a punt - remember to send in a copy of the BB.0 -
thanks alot for the advice, she has written a letter to appeal it to say that she is unable to walk to the bank from any of the actual designated parking spaces and of the 2 disabled bays available they were already in use by other people.
she has also listed some other things but its not really of my concern just wanted to get some advice but shes gonna appeal it anyway
thanks guys0
