I have recently sold my scooter and purchased another one, both from a trader. My insurance wanted an extra £250 for the remaining 3 months of the policy. I only pay £11 per month. I was advised by the trader to just take out a separate insurance policy on the new scooter and wait for the old one to just expire. I'm now stuck because the new insurer wants to see proof of my no claims and the old insurer won't give me a copy unless I cancel and pay £70. What do I do?

You can't use the NCB whilst its in use on another policy.

As you no longer have the old scooter, you should be cancelling the old policy, which will free the NCB.

Your now in a catch 22 situation. The old policy is still in force and if you cancel now will the new company accept the no claims that was already being used elsewhere.

Its going to be an expensive mistake either way.

Cancel the old policy and hope the new company accept the no claims without a penalty. Or cancel the new one and transfer the bike to the old one.
