How much did your conveyancing cost ?

Stupidly i used a price comparison website to find a solicitor for my conveyancing and it produced a figure of £600 for legal fees alone. The solicitor has informed me that there will be an extra £500 for disimbursements and searches . This is a total of £1100 exclusing the stamp duty . I dont know is this is on the high end or what . What were your conveyancing fees for your purchase excluding stamp duty ?

Sometimes does depend on the purchase price and what area but i paid £395 plus VAT then disbursements and sd on top. House is 164k total paid just under £2300

I seem to remember that when I bought my last house I shopped around for conveyancing costs and all six of the solicitors quoted a set fee + disbursements + searches etc. I.e all of the quotes followed the same format and it was easy to compare like for like.
The only money the solicitor gets to keep is the conveyancining fees, the rest are paid to other entities for searches et.

Disbursements aside (as these are fairly generic regardless of whatever solicitor you choose), I paid £595+VAT for selling and the same again for buying. This is in the South East and took place this month.

i found a couple of soliciters on compare and convey - emailed both -a m yet to hear back from either - which i dont think is that good a sigm?

My solicitor is costing £1400 for our purchase, our sale was £850. This excludes stamp duty.

All included my solicitors bill comes to £3300 which includes £1900 stamp duty. Thats on a new build.

I rang for 6 quotes with local firms and ruled 2 out immediately (one of them clearly didn't value my call and had a bad attitude, the other put me on hold for 3 minutes!) The 4 remaining quotes ranged between £800 - £1050 total for purchasing our property. There seemed to be a set fee of £400 for all 4 solicitors, and the other costs seemed to vary in terms of markup.

In the end we chose one in the middle of the price range at £900 that we'd had a few recommendations for.

mine is £3200 altogether including £2400 stamp duty

Currently purchasing and all in its £960 (no stamp duty).
That's a fixed price and will only go up if they have to do extra searches.
I looked at online companies and local ones, but went with this one as its local and only about £40 more than online quotes I got.
