Looks like I'll have to live with cold feet

Good luck with that lol :D

I thought I could too, I had this idea of wanting tiles on the kitchen floor when we refitted it and I absolutely loved the way it looked when it was all finished.
However I only lasted about 2 winters with the tiles and had to admit defeat as I just couldn't stand the cold anymore and they had to go :o I don't generally feel the cold readily but my feet were just like blocks of ice.

A new build with a national builder - it is a "NO" for having the flooring and/or carpeting done from anyone else but the developer before completion. Under-floor heating is not an available option / choice so not possible (sad).

Could you opt to have NO flooring laid down at all?
Could save you money upfront and then also no need to remove/change later.
Then you could get someone in to do what you wanted after completion.

Rent for an extra month will wash away any savings that there may be.
  • Could you get a credit for the work not done. I did this with another new build I had. I didn't want the fireplace and they credited me the money, which was given to me after completion. Either that or find something there charging extra for that you want instead (mine was a shower over the bath to be installed), or flat ceilings etc, or coving in all rooms, the list is endless for what they charge you extra for) and swap around.
