I am looking to do some diy and need to buy and sds drill to remove old ceramic tiles - whats a recommended make.
I also want to buy a battery drill as my old trusty B&D has really seen better days and the argos bargin is a piece of crud (but cheap and did its job) Is it worth getting something like:-
http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-1-5ah-li-ion-twin-pack-14-4v-combi-drill-10-8v-impact-driver-xr/43946?cm_mmc=Email-_-E13W20C9-_-hotdeals-_-dewalttwinpack
http://www.screwfix.com/p/sparky-br2-15li-gur-15li-14-4v-1-5ah-li-ion-twin-pack-drill-impact-driver/54362
Just keen not to spend too much but want a battery drill that is capable of drilling into masonry and fixing screws etc so the above may be overkill so feel free to suggest others or other reputable suppliers

Hitachi 18v cordless / spare battery / good reviews

Toolstation prices tend to be more competitive than Screwfix.
I am a fan of https://www.its.co.uk.The service is excellent and feedback from building site tradesmen is also good. I had an issue last year with a Karcher product and its.co.uk fired into Karcher. This exceeded reasonable back up by a country mile.
My prefence is anything made by Makita - partly because they still have a UK manufacturing base. In fact there is a super Makita SDS at its!0 -
There seems to be confusion. Only one (the blue Bosch) is a SDS drill that can chisel.
Unless I really needed it, I would not have a battery SDS drill a corded tool will always be more powerful and a lot lighter.
Consider you may want to chisel for several hours continuously your arms would drop off (or the batteries die) with a battery SDS drill.0 -
sorry wrong post read below0

Depending how many tiles you have to chisel up ~~I wouldnt recommend a 2kg sds. Ive gone through 2 makita 2kg sds by working it to hard. Bought a titan 4kg from screwfix for taking up floor tiles the other day and though it is heavy it took them up so easily. Not sure how long it will last as its a cheap drill but it has a 2 year guarantee so well worth it and ill leave my 2kg makita for light chiseling
the titan is only £79 from screwfix with loads of drill bits0 -
looks like a titan is the way forward for the sds - it looks good value so I'll give it a go.
just need to sort the battery drill / driver next0 -
Doubtless you will call me old fashioned , but a lump hammer and a sharp bolster chisel are the tools for knocking off old tiles.Forgotten but not gone.0

Yep - loads fasterYes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Even for floor tiles [didn't make it clear in my first post they were floor tiles]? If so I'll save myself the £70.0
