in Credit cards
hi all
didn't know where to post this so hope its in the right place .
anyway the past 2 months my credit card statement has come through the door and it was completely open .
I have checked my on-line account everyday and nothing has happened on there that should not have happened so thought i would wait and see if it arrives open again this month and the same thing happened today.
I always get several other letters at the same time as this is delivered so it seems a bit weird that it's always the same credit card statement that's completely open each month that it comes .
I actually watched the post man walk down the road today and post it through my door so i know that its not being posted to my neighbours by accident and they are having a nosey before sticking it through my door. so somewhere between the credit card company sending it and the post man delivering it its being opened.
do you think someone is opening it for a reason or could it just been the card company not sealing the envelopes properly ?
should i complain to the card company or post office or both ?
starting to worry as to why its always this letter open

How is it open? Torn open or unsealed?0

No letter is posted with out sealing it properly. You better complain to the both of them the card company and the post office. If you see the sealing toned it might be someone who opened it in middle.0

Catch the post man first as he is coming to your doorstep, upon, if negative then report to the card provider company about the issue.0 -
thanks all. its always fully unsealed . will report it today because whatever is happening to it 3 months in a row is a bit of a coincidence for it to just come open fully and surely my card number can't be very safe when anyone can see it in the open envelope0

All this sort of mail is machine produced - the machine has no idea if the envelopes are sealed, it folds a self adhesive flap on the envelope - if it doesn't stick the machine doesn't know or care !0 -

If you phone the P.O,your postie will get the finger of suspicion for something that has nothing to do with him.I have a deep burning indifference0 -
Go paperless, saves the planet and saves the change of it being intercepted and used for ID fraud.0

Report to officials regarding the issue. Is not safe if its go on happening the same, you don't have any security to the information provided.0

hi thanks for all the replies.
i have spoke to the card company and they don't allow going paperless.
they are adamant that the envelope will have been sealed when it left there, they wasn't really bothered at the fact that anybody could have access to my card number just wanted to point the finger at the postal service so as i don't know what's happening to it to be on the safe side i decided to pay what i owe over the phone with them and told them i want the card closed.
just managed to catch up with the post man and had a word with him about it (i don't suspect for 1 second that it's anything to do with him as he's been our post man for years and is a lovely old bloke) he told me to let Royal Mail know.
as i have closed the card now do you think its ok to leave it at that or should i tell Royal Mail because i don't want the post man getting the blame if he's done nothing wrong?0
