Easyjet And Airport Departure Tax
ADDERSAVER
Hi everyone
I have booked some easyjet flights for July but I am not sure that I am going to travel now. I know that they will not refund what I have spent on the flights but I have yet to pay the additional airport departure tax as I booked the flights before this came in. Does anyone know if I can get a full refund on the basis that I am refusing to pay the unfair tax or will they just say tough luck.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

Sorry, by definition a tax is fair, legally, whatever you might think about it in general terms.
You CAN reclaim the tax you have already paid:
11.2. Taxes and Charges
If after having made a reservation you do not fly with us, whether or not a refund of the Fare is payable you will be entitled to claim a refund of any taxes or charges advised to you and payable by you in accordance with Article 5.2, which as a consequence we have no obligation to pay to any Government or other authority. We reserve the right to deduct a reasonable service charge from any such refund where you fail to fly with us despite a Flight being available.
Whether that service charge cancels out the refund I've no idea.0
