I don't actually mind Calais but then again I can find a shopping opportunity pretty much anywhere. I too like Sephora and the one in Cite Europe is an ok size. There is also one in Auchan just outside cite Europe. I've found an outlet mall next to Cite Europe but can't remember what the shops are in it. There is also a retail park next to the motorway. If you like plants Jardiland between Cite Europe and the beach isn't too bad and they often sell plants you don't find here. I can't remember what day is market day but when I've been its a good opportunity to practise some French and order quantities of things. If its a nice day there are often loads of ice cream vans parked by the beach that are very cheap and there is also a frites hut in the corner of the car park. I can spend ages in Carrefour and Auchan as I like to buy stuff you can't get here. You can also buy decent chickens that have lived 70 + days.0

I like to day trip too. I agree with the suggestions of Boulogne, I like the walk around the harbour and the old town. There is a good aquarium there if you like that kind of thing.
I've visited Boulogne more than once
I always visit Cite Europe too, I like to visit Carrefour there. Where the old Tescos used to be is a new Wine shop, which seems quite good. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -

A nice place to have lunch: Le Detroit Restaurant, Avenue de la Resistance, Calais. Takes a while, though. Not 'fast food', but very nice.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
