If they're not getting back to the EA I'd we worried.

Our solicitor held us up for a few days on our sale, but I was in constant contact with the EA to let the buyer know it wasn't us causing the delay, and I was doing all I could to chase it.

    too many comps..not enough time!

Thanks chickaroonee. I agree - no matter how busy someone is at work, there is no excuse for failing to be contactable when you're in the middle of a house purchase. All it takes is a quick phone call during your lunch break, for heaven's sake.

Am now waiting for the solicitor to call back! All very frustrating. Think I need to ask the solicitor to ring their solicitor immediately and find out what they're playing at. I have requested the survey every day this week, and since last Friday we were told the surveyor would contact us asap. It's now Friday and still nothing. Someone needs a rocket under them... :(

    1. You've been told repeatedly that the buyer has NO CONTROL over the surveyor.

    2. The buyer might, just conceivably, have been uncontactable on one day. Yes, the one day that the EA has been hassling them repeatedly.

I can understand your frustration but it looks from the outside as though you are bordering on the hysterical now, and run the risk of making a decision you would regret if you were calmer.

I'm really not hysterical! :) However, it took the buyer a full 48 hours to respond to the EA which he only did yesterday after my solicitor rang his and asked what the hell was going on! I don't believe that anyone in this day and age is uncontactable for a full day, and certainly not when they are in a property buying/selling scenario.

My solicitor surmised from what the other solicitor said that the survey has only just been paid for - hence my justifiable concerns that the buyer was fobbing off the EA for over a week when in fact he knew he hadn't paid for the survey yet! I know the buyer can't control the surveyor, but they can damn well control their own truthfulness or otherwise!!

Of course your buyer doesn't want to speak to the agent. They've got nothing to tell them. They're waiting for the mortgage company to arrange the survey. They've already told you that and nothing has changed. Leaving three messages in a day, about nothing, makes both you and the agent look desperate. Carry on like this and, unless your buyer is either very naïve, very thick or very honest, you're going to end up getting gazundered.
