Can I get my money back on this iron

Hi

About 2 weeks ago I ordered a steam generator from Very catalogue. Since then I have ruined 3 white shirts and a white pillow case, as the iron spits out brown gunk indiscriminately.

I have e-mailed Very and they told me to contact Hoover. I told them that as far as I was concerned my contract was with them, and I wanted to return it and get a refund.

Out of interest I did ring Hoover, but all they can do is send out an engineer which I am def not interested in. If it's not working properly after 10 days it does not bode well for the future.

I am still awaiting the response to my e-mail from Very, but just wondered if anyone could advise as to whether I can indeed get a refund, or if I have to accept a repair or replacement.

Many thanks

    Hi Sherzwick,

We're very sorry to hear that your purchase appears to have developed a fault. We do provided the manufacturers helpline so that the fault can be diagnosed and a suitable remedy, such as a repair, can be arranged.

If you would like to email us at Network@VeryHQ.co.uk then we can help with this query.

    Many Thanks

I think in the circumstances it would have been reasonable to reject it under SOGA and expect Very to refund - hopefully that's what they will now do, but if they refuse then I suggest you come back here for more advice on how to pursue it.
  • I agree with agrinnall, perfectly within reason to outright reject for a full refund, regardless of what any "very" puppet says.

    Put it in writing.

    Many thanks for that.

I will pursue this in writing as suggested

Sounds like the iron is rusty. How that could have happened to a new iron isn't clear.
