Hi all- 2 queries please

I am the primary driver on my policy, my wife is a second driver.

In Nov 2012 a car bumped into our car while she was driving, but due to her position in the road was deemed to be her fault. The other driver lodged a claim which was settled by our insurers. I then received a 'Confirmation of amendment to car insurance policy - Add cover' - 'Your annual premium is £1101.85. You don't need to take any further action ...'

1. I]I am unclear what this means. Has this figure been charged to me already? Or are they saying it will be added to the renewal price? Our initial premium was circa £900[/I

Just received a renewal quote of £1971.79. They have got the accident down under my name, not my wife's.

2. Is there any practical value in getting them to update their records to having the accident under my wife's name? This is the truth of what happened, but I dont want to bother changing it if there's no real point. Also, I anyway intend to get new quotes from comparison sites.

Thanks

AFAIK if the second driver has an at fault accident both the policy holder + the second driver needs to declare it if both of you are not on the insurance document as you were.

However if you are insured as you were then it would go under your wife's name and not yours but may be its different for each insurers you will probably reduce your premium switching to diff insurer anyways you should just check.
