are your sockets double or single?
Is the property empty...it will be cheaper and easier ti do if it is.
What is the state of your walls....do you intend to have them skimmed after the electrics are done...if so ask to be quoted without the replastering of chasing,if you are getting them skimmed afterwards then you are in fact paying twice for the job
I appreciate you are london based and I am not but last year our 2 bed in the south cost just a little short of £4k....
Similar sort of things as you but perhaps we had a few more LED (14)and 2 smoke detectors...also opted for 4 double sockets in each bedroom
I would perhaps get another quote possibly 2 and you can then judge if its reasonable for your requirementsfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Thanks for the reply LEJC. Much appreciate your advice. All mentioned sockets are single sockets. The property is occupied and the walls are in decent state but as you said it might require skimming before I paint them all as they are currently covered with wall paper. I havent thought abt LEDs, thanks for mentioning that. I'll look into it.0

If all your circuits are RCD protected then you don't need supplementary bonding.... surprised your sparks didn't know this.
anyway, get him/her to take that bit out0 -
The other side of £7k sounds a bit steep, even at London rates. What is the reason for the rewire?0

I have bought this 1940's build and it has the old fuse box and sockets on the skirting boards and they are apparently not according to existing standards. Called in another guy to give me a quote. Are there any standard companies that do rewiring. Basically being new to to owning a house I have no idea who is a cowboy and who is not.
Thanks0 -
7k is shockingly high.
I would 100% get others out to view.
just make sure all will certificate their work.0
