Looking to have a little weekend away at the beginning of August (2nd to the 5th). Does anyone know of any little hidden gems to stay in, most places I have found seem to be in excess of £300.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you want to be in the centre of Brighton? I assume the room is for two? What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0

The really ugly premier inn right in the centre
It's generally a bargain, really good location, clean rooms, and did I mention, right in the centre. You can't get more central than above north street.
Avoid the travelodges tho. Really not good.
Just noticed that's £339 tho. Shame.
There's a brand new Ibis opening in July, looks very nice, £95 per night for that stay, reasonable location.
I live near Brighton, and visit regularly, so can answer questions about area etc.0 -
Brighton is great but staying there can be a nightmare, as even if you find a hotel at a good price you then have to sort out parking. Have you considered staying a little out of town and getting the bus in? Would probably work out much more MSE and get you somewhere nicer for your money0

Not wrong about the parking, I live in Brighton and it really isn't a car friendly place. Saying that I know of free parking spots if you're willing to make a 5/10min walk.
Maybe look in the Kemp Town region for cheaper boutique hotels. All of the major centre hotels will be around the £300 mark if not more, especially if you're visiting Fri-MonWhat's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -

You won't find anywhere free to park in central brighton, it's run by the Green party.0 -

This is true in the centre of town but I know of places within a 10 min walk. You can also park for free in a number of dead central places on Sundays.
I believe they are continuing to make these parking zones permit or pay and display so not doubt they wont be there for much longer. What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -

Good luck!!!!
Central Brighton is all permit parking and you'll find somewhere free or cheap to park virtually non existent.

It's cheaper on all fronts to stay, and park, somewhere away from the centre - look at areas like Kemp Town, Hove, Portslade etc.
The buses in Brighton are very good in most areas, cost is about £20 a week but this include night buses - so if you find somewhere to stay that's on a night route you could save yourself a few taxis! (the no.25, for example, runs right through town along the main road out to portslade every 30 mins, 24 hours a day).

There's trains as well but these get expensive very quickly, a return journey from one side (outskirts) of town to the other can cost £7+ at peak times.0 -
I stayed at the Brighton House Hotel recently for £47 per night bed and breakfast (single)...it's a lovely, friendly hotel and I felt really spoiled compared to my colleagues who paid roughly the same to stay at the scummy travelodge. I booked through expedia for the best rate (and they do cashback now)
For parking, the NCP offers a discount if you book in advance. It's still quite expensive though so if you're travelling light it might be worth thinking about using park and ride or getting the train there instead.
If you like Thai food, Sawadi Thai on St James Street is really good and decent value.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
