Picking up non Amex Spend

Afternoon all,
Might be clutching at straws but here goes...
We all love something for nothing, right?
My partner and I are slowly becoming obsessed with collecting Air miles and using them for free flights and upgrades when we travel. We live in Scotland which means that BA and to a lesser degree Emirates are really the best (only) options using connecting flights.
Tesco clubcard the eStore and more recently our BA Amex card really helps keep them coming in but now looking for the best card to use to pick up spend with retailers that don’t use Amex.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Looking at it, it seems that hotel rewards cards maybe through Barclaycard are an option but the earning and conversion rates to BA/Emirates seem pretty poor.
Emirates have just brought out a Amex/Visa offer too, but has alot of small print!
Any advice appreciated

Consider offers with other Oneworld carriers too, as you'll generally be able to redeem their miles for BA flights - I'm currently in the process of meeting the minimum spend to get 35k AA miles with their Amex/Visa bundle (offer now ended as of 31/5 for new applicants unfortunately.
Raffles does a monthly credit card update for such things on his blog at https://www.headforpoints.com, this ones particularly good as its aimed at UK flyers, most are aimed at the American market.0
