    I've been Money Tipped!
If you want a pre-booked appointment at my surgery it will be in a month's time! If it is an emergency you can telephone on the day at 8 and the spend the next 10 to 15 minutes getting the engaged tone, finally get through and be told all appointments are gone and to ring back the next day when you go through the same rigmarole again.

It annoys me that appointments are classed as urgent (how many actually are?) and non urgent that can wait a month. If I need to see a Dr it is not usually urgent but often cannot wait a month to be sorted.

You cannot go to the surgery to make an appointment for that day either it has to be on the phone.

There has been talk of patients having to tell the receptionist what is wrong and they decide if you need an appointment for that day or not. I certainly will not be discussing my health with a receptionist

Well I've got a three week wait to see my GP - good job I only to have a chat with him about some test results that I'm being referred to the hospital (again) about.

Otherwise its a ring up at 8am situation

Like many of the other posters there's no way would I discuss my symptoms with the receptionist

After I had DD (11.5 years ago now!), I had my 6 week check with the GP and started on the depo. I was told I needed it every 3 months so I came out and went downstairs to book my appointment for 3 months time. I was told I couldn't. Not even with the nurse. Ridiculous!
Needless to say, I ended up without birth control. It's amazing that there are actually 2 years between the 2 kids but if DD had been a better sleeper, there might have been a shorter gap :o.
