Credit File Help!

Hi,
I've had a few defaults on my credit file over the years. Things like an unpaid utility bill, overdrawn accounts etc... all amounts to about £8K
My problem is and always has been, I can't afford to pay ALL the debt off. I can pay some off, not all. I have a very low paid job and life is hard enough with the little money I've got.
All these defaults go back from 2007-2010. My question is this: do all defaults get wiped off your credit file after 6 years? If this is the case, what would my credit file show after this? If they do not get wiped off, will I have to find a way of paying off all the debt over the next coming years?
I'm totally clueless on the process, please help! And please save any lectures, just constructive feedback... this is really getting me down and I'm at a total loss. I feel like I'll never be able to move forward with my life until this debt has dissapeared :-(

Yes.alannadrama wrote: »If this is the case, what would my credit file show after this?
Nothing related to the account will show after that.alannadrama wrote: »If they do not get wiped off, will I have to find a way of paying off all the debt over the next coming years?
Yes, as the default falling off does not stop creditors going to court if you don't pay.
You should probably post on the Debt-Free-Wannabe board, as there may be options for dealing with everything if you are on a low income.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
