New Bathroom suite

Its time to replace our bathroom and I would like some advice on where is best to buy the bathroom suite from and what sort of price we should be looking to spend for something that will last? Have see one suite that we liked in homebase.

The room is only 1.9m x1.9m so can't go for anything fancy just a standard size bath, small toilet and wash basin.

What taps are good? Need a shower mixer tap for the bath as I want to move the shower to the other end of the bath for the shorter pipe run, shower is currently running through the loft space.

Also what flooring is recommended for a bathroom, doesn't need to be to cheap as the floor space is tiny.

Thanks
In Progress!!!

Any of the sheds, or online. You can spend as much or as little as you like.

For taps, make sure they are ceramic disc type - eradicates dripping and harder wearing. For a shower mixer tap I would recommend a thermostatic type so that you get a constant temperature through it and it doesn't go freezing (or scalding hot) when someone runs a tap elsewhere or the dishwasher kicks in.

We just got a Armitage shanks suite that sheds sell but we got it trade. It has a acrylic bath and its fine,I think its this one

    Cascade

TBH I noticed in B&Q steel bath wasnt much more. We had a corner bath before and although bath was small it takes more space than a standard 1700mm bath does

We also got mixer taps this is them

We have a shower also which is separate

I think bath, toilet and wash basin inc taps were not much more than £200 for parts.
  • I would personally recommend a reinforced bath if you intend to install a shower over the top of it as this will reduce movement over time Carronite is probably the market leader in this respect although Trojan also have a similar product called Trojancast, the advantages of acrylic over enamelled steel is that it retains the heat better & over time the acrylic bath will retain its lustre where as unless you install a heavy duty steel bath it will look tired and chip/mark easily. In regards to taps it depends on what type of hot water system you have feeding them, a lot of 1/4 turn mixers require a minium pressure to operate them. Always try to buy a recognised brand with taps as obtaining spares in 5 years is much easier (as a rule of thumb if the manufacturer puts a branding on the tap they are proud to be associated with their product)

  • Bristan make some good quality mid range products and have good customer care you won't go far wrong with there product. I also think I confused you earlier re the baths unless you are spending 5-600 pounds on the bath stuck to acrylic but look at the reinforced options

We've just had our bathroom done and it was a bit of a nightmare to be honest! Much more fun shopping for a new kitchen!

I bought a 10mm thick acrylic shower bath and screen on eBay, and an Ideal Standard loo and basin from B & Q (although we had huge problems with the loo, we had 2 replacements as they were smashed). We also bought bath and basin taps and a towel rail from Victoria Plumb who we were really impressed with (good prices, nice quality and fast delivery).

I've been recommended a Kaldewei Saniform Plus 1800 x 800 bath as I like biggish baths. Does anyone know if they are good or not?
  • The Kaldewei Saniform Plus baths are of a really high quality and used by a lot of house builders on their premium projects. At that end of the market you may also wish to look at Bette baths.
