Carpet Issues

Just before Christmas I had a new stair carpet fitted, it soon developed a hole and was inspected & replaced in January.
The new carpet (5 month old) is showing a lighter colour where flattening has occured in trafficked areas.
I have contacted the shop again and they wanted to send an inspector out monday to Friday 0900 to 1230. I work all week so offered Saturday. They said they wouldnt inspect on Saturday so sent off a report to the manufacturer without inspection.
The manufacturer contacted me to inspect the carpet Monday to Friday and I again offered Saturday. The supplier went back to the shop and told them they could not inspect it as they dont do Saturdays.
I took a day off to have it fitted the first time, I took half a day off to have it inspected the first time after the hole developed, I took another day off to have it fitted the second time.
I cant take any more time off to have it inspected a second time.
Am I being reasonable?
They e mailed me last night and told me to get an independent inspection done (Not by a competitor). I e mailed back and gave them 7 days to get it removed and refund me or I will go to the small claims court.
Again am I being reasonable
Thanks Martyn

You will lose, I think you need to find time for them to inspect it or do as they advise and get an independent report (keep cost reasonable).0

But I cant take any more time off, so what can i do?0

Do you have a neighbour, family or friend who can let them in? You yourself don't need to be there, anyone will do.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I am looking into that, I dont see why they cant be flexible, the shop is open saturday and Sunday.0

They are probably saying exactly the same thing about you.
The difference is that you want them to do something for you.
They really don't mind if you refuse to allow them to visit when they want to.
They will also be happy if you don't supply an independent report.0 -
Even if you did go to small claims, you would need proof (ie an independent report) to demonstrate the carpets faulty and not just damaged by you for example, since it was originally purchased over 6 months ago.
If you can proof it, they can reject your refund request if repair or replacement is more cost effective.0
