OS Daily Tuesday 25th June 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Looks like being a better day here today and can see the sun peeping already. Have put on the washing machine in the hope I can hang it on the line when I get home tonight.

Salads for lunches and sausage meatballs in crème fraiche sauce and cabbage for dinner. Today weight loss so far is 7.6 kg or 16.7 lb and am very happy with that. Slowed down a little bit this week to 0.6 kg loss but it's still over 1 lb.

Hoping to finish work a bit early today and get some bits of shopping. A day of weekend was messed up due to car so still need to catch up on a few things and list for next weekend is already ongoing.

DH is due to start next set of exam marking any day now so world will revolve around that again for a couple of weeks. Seems like a pain but it's all good money coming in.

Managed to get house insurance renewal down by £66.22 so that was worth a phone call last night. A threat or two to move to a rival always works wonders!

Time to get going for work so usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs them or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

moorhen one reason I never climb on chairs or stools is the fact there is a good chance I will fall off with my to-many -miles- on -the-clock joints:DI'm afaid if its above my head it can stay there until I get someone taller and considerably younger to get it down for me:rotfl:As I am slightly 'weeble' shaped I don't bounce back up as I once did;)
My builder rang last night and he has a 'free' week in between jobs next week so my sitting room will be getting decorated,I am really pleased as I wanted to get it done before my holiday if possible

Moorhen - Gentle hugs to you, hope you're ok.
JackieO - I have friends going to see Robbie tonight in Glasgow!

Had a better night's sleep last night but woke up early, don't mind that so much if I have slept well. Finished work last night about 9 so that was a bonus, it didn't feel like I was up late!

Going to view a couple of houses this afternoon with DD, thought I should make an effort! Last Tuesday at school for 6 weeks today, more cleaning and tidying I should think with the odd hour or 2 of photocopying thrown in.

Salad for lunch and something with salmon for tea, not sure what yet.

    Take care. XX

Moorhen - ouchy. Im another who dare not reach up too high - my doggies run for cover under the kitchen table after being covered in cornflour and coco powder on a couple of occasions!!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning all, terrible nights sleep for me woke at 00:55 and could not settle again, eventually I went through to the sofa at about 4am and got about 45mins.

After not being able to get warm yesterday bf said I was burning up all night so I have promised him and my dad I will call the gp today so will do that after the seminar I am hosting today.

I have to leave for work at 7.30 rather than the usual 8.15/8.30 to get there in Time to set up for my seminar - might try and leave early as I am in pain and exhausted. So tired I've almost been in tears so far :-(

Hope all who follow Have a better start to their days!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Sunny, bright and dry here, with no breeze at all, so looks like being a nice day. Washing on the line. Plants watered.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was fish, chips, and beans for the menfolk, I had a mushroom omlette and salad. Tonight will be a made up recipe with smoked sausages, and bacon rissotto, I'll probably through in a few mushrooms too.

Work yesterday wasn't as busy as expected but steady. Called in to MrT on the way into work and as I was about to enter the store the fire alarm went off so everyone was evacuated, so that took longer than I'd anticipated. Went straight to my sis's after work to take nephew's birthday prezzie and card, then to the caravan as I'd left some bread and rolls in the cupboard - doesn't do them any good to be left in the cupboard for a week or 2! Came home and had to make a couple of phone calls, then prep and cook the dinner - hence why we finished up with a quick and easy meal.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Cool here this morning, but with a good breeze, will get a towel wash on the go after this. Need to drop dd at work this morning then home for a quick swish round, everything got a good clean yesterday, so does not need much.

Will go and see my dad at lunchtime and help him with his lunch.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops with something, we have some stuffing left from last night, and some gravy, so will use those up too.

Topsy, hope you feel better soon.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,
Judi How are things with you?

All is well with me fortunately. Thanks for asking. In fact today is a very special day for my youngest son. I'll explain:

Today is the day my son has had to face up to the fact that when he arranges to do something, he cant expect his Dad to drop everything and fit in with him. A few weeks ago my son agreed to accompany his girlfriend at her school prom. The fact she lives over 100 miles away didn't occur to him. After all, Dad has always been his taxi and has though he moaned like anything he took him wherever he wanted to go. Not this time. Hubby is at work and has told him if he wants to go, he's got to go by train. So he got up bright and early this morning. Made himself a bacon and egg sandwich, packed his bag and he's left for the train station. He's got 3 trains to catch despite never being on a train platform before. I did encourage him to go on a train before his trip today but as usual, he ignored my advice.

Sooooo. I am hoping he gets to his destination. If not his Dad will have to do a full shift and drive to whatever train station he's ended up at.

'You looking forward to your train trip tomorrow son?' I asked him yesterday.

'Yes' he said. 'Its been ages since ive been on a train'.

'Didn't know you've been on a train son' I replied.

'Yes, don't you remember us going on the steam train? I was about 8'

I think he's in for a bit of a shock and his Mother is sitting here worried sick.:(

Hope you have a good day all. I'm going to deep clean his room.
