Hi,My Daughters boyfriend has received a visit from the Bailiffs regarding a unpaid mobile phone bill.I understand the bill has now been paid.I presume because of this he will get a default on his credit file for six years. Will this affect my Daughter in any way and does she need to take any steps to limit any damage to her credit file.

Hi there,
Unless they have joint accounts, then they shouldn't be linked financially and it shouldn't impact her. Even marriage doesn't link you - it's joint bank accounts, mortgages etc that link you financially to someone else.
I would recommend that she gets a copy of her statutory credit report from all 3 agencies to make sure. Although to be honest, if they are linked there's not much she can do about it now! It shouldn't affect her too much - some lenders realise that mobile companies can be a bit trigger happy in filing defaults.
Hope this helps.Fritterati Challenge for 2013:
