Collection in person - Ebay seller going away

hi , I would like some advice please. I have just won something on ebay which is collection in person, however now that I am trying to pick it up the seller has said that he is only in tomorrow night after 9pm then is away until Monday when he is home for a couple of hours, and then goes away on Tuesday for a week!

I bought a tent and would rather like to use it before then, so now I appear to be stuck. I have 3 children and work full time so 9pm onwards tomorrow is no good as it is a fair drive to go and pick it up. To be honest now I just want to get it elsewhere and not from this person.

Am I being unreasonable to expect to be able to get it some point before 8th July? I never thought to check if the seller was going away, I mean why would they put it for collection if they weren't around to collect?

First they came for the crack users; but I said nothing. I was not a crack user. Then they came for the heroin users. But I said nothing - I was not a heroin user. Then they came for me. There was no one left to speak for me. (after Pastor Niemoller)

Agree - i have loads of collection items to list - but i havent, as i am not home much.

Ask seller to request a mutual cancellation as you cannnot collect at the time stated.

Have you asked the seller if possible/practical if they could drop it off to you instead if they are in the area?

I live about 20 miles away, so it is unlikely that he will drop it off to me. I have emailed saying that I need it before 8th July and asked if he will cancel sale. Have to see what he says

Have you actually asked them though? You might be surprised. I've dropped a few of my bulky items off to my buyers when they've asked. My job involves a lot of travelling so can often tie it in with that.
  • Could you not ask the seller if he could leave it with a neighbour/relative who you could collect from while he is away?

Did it sell for a very low price? Sounds like they are trying to avoid selling?
