Barclaycard Pre Check

Hi, thinking of completing a Pre-check for a Barclaycard, had a look at the screen and it seems a very quick process. Do they cover everything in the Pre-check or do they then ask additional questions if you go through for a full application?
The Pre-check seems to focus on income rather than outgoing?
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • There's not much to think about. You can use as many pre-checks as you like, it won't do you any harm.

Very few credit card applications ask you about outgoings. In fact, I've applied (and been successful) for 4 credit cards in the last year and I don't think any of them asked.

A full application won't ask you for much more detail than the pre-check. It will just take a bit longer as they have to give you all the T&Cs etc.

As for how reliable they are, I think they are probably ok and will give you a reasonable idea for your chances.
  • I used the Barclaycard pre checker and it asks minimal details, I applied and was accepted after virgin said no...

The full application asks for more info but its not onerous and not as much detail as virgin application either. Instant decision and account managed online...

Hi thanks for the responses. Appreciating that nothing is certain, I have completed the pre-check and it is saying that I have a very good chance at being accepted for the 27 month 0% balance transfer card at a representative APR of 18.9%. Further down it says I would have an excellent chance of being accepted for the Initial Card.

Any thoughts from anyone with experience would be much appreciated. Thanks

My missis got the same results as you and just applied for the Platinum and she recieved an email this morning saying congratulations and all that credit limit £5500.

Ps they searched Equifax & Experian.

Apply for the platinum, if they can't offer it then they will offer an Initial card anyway so there is no point only applying for the barclaycard initial.

That was the same as my results, I have a £6100 limit and was accepted straight away on the platinum.

When I activated they also told me I have 0% on purchases for the first 6 months too.

    Good luck :-)

Yep just on Friday a friend of mine was talking about her existing card which had an interest bearing balance on it which she was chipping away at slowly; we ran her details through the pre-app checker for Barclaycard, said very good chance platinum, excellent chance initial, submitted a full application and instantly approved online with a £4,000 limit - which given her circumstances (single mum) might be a little too much but at least she has 27 months 0% now :o

Quick update, made the full application late last night. Asked me to complete an account name etc. and then stated that I would hear in the next 5 days. Presumably this just means they need to check something that the computer was unable to do? Thanks

Agreed, if you did it late at night Equifax might have been doing their overnight update.

I'd suggest calling them in a couple of days requesting an update :o
