Natwest refused to even help me because I don't have 'telephone' banking

Hello, well, earlier I tried ordering a phone on the orange website, after going through filling the details in, my internet opened a new window and i was then onto the 'natwest secure' page to fill my details in again, and after 3 attempts it didn't work, and then it said 'something' about something now being 'locked' 'online' I didn't get a proper chance to read what it said as the window abruptly closed. I am now worried it means my whole bank account is locked/frozen

I tried to chat online to natwest advisor, I'm not too sure the advisor understood my question and said just said my account wouldnt be locked. I decided to ring up, and ask about this, after getting past all the security questions and giving my customer number, i asked my question, and then was told they could not help me just because i wasn't signed up to telephone banking, just said, ring tomorrow at 8am, didn't give me an option to set telephone banking up.
I'm quite worried now, Does anyone else know if this means that my actual ACCOUNT is locked or frozen?

thanks in advance

  • I'm quite new to all this internet banking etc. I know as the 'secure' page came up it had the 'verified visa' logo on it so I'd imagine we are talking about the same thing.

You should have been asked if you want to reset your password, it'll ask a few security questions before allowing you to do so. If you got these security questions wrong, then you need to talk to your bank, as each could be different.

Your bank account will not be locked. Shops will continue to accept your card. However, any website which uses VbV may refuse payment until you sort it all out.
  • Thank you for your reply.

I did try to sort it out but obviously i need telephone banking. I will go into a branch before work tomorrow.
    Thanks again! :)
