Wiring whirlpool bath

I am looking to have a whirlpool bath fitted as part of my bathroom refurbishment. Two fitters have given confusing advice :-

1. The bath should be fed with a separate circuit wired back to the consumer unit which must be upgraded to offer RCD protection..

2. The bath can with fed via a separate RCD protected fused spur connected to the upstairs ring main.

Can any qualified electrician advise who is correct

Either is correct. Main point is that it must be covered by a RCD

Option 1 cost a few hundred quid plus re-testing.

Option 2 cost a few quid.

Go the MSE route - Option 2 - RCD spur fed off the ring main is perfectly acceptable.

Depends on whether the ring needs extending or modifying to get there!
