Damage to wool carpet

I have just noticed that moths have been eating my wool carpet only when I decided to move the furnitures. The carpet is very old. I also checked my wardrobe and to my horror found the odd wool cardigans with a couple of holes in them. I have given the house a good clean and use insectide and put moths repellents inside wardrobe. My other problem is that my velvet curtains 100% cotton pile have been eaten, it looks as if something is feeding on the velvet pile and the cotton lining has got holes in them. Could they be moth as I have checked the curtains and cannot find any and the curtains get a lot of sunshine during the day. Also there are loads of rusty colour spots on them, anybody got any idea what they are? I am getting very obssessed but hubby does not seem to worry. I think next time it will be wooden floor for me in the house, that's what he wants and so far I am against. Thanks
