Ex-husband fixing my laptop

We are on good terms and to save myself a load of money I asked my separated husband if he'd mind fixing my laptop for me, as that is his profession. He agreed it was no bother and is collecting it saturday.
I will clear my recycle bin, history and delete some favourite sites, but I know these can be recovered by those with knowledge. Although I have nothing dodgy to hide, its more personal stuff like things i've written about our separation on the family board, or when I googled samaritans etc.
He built the home pc/network system and used to clean up the family pc and my laptop when he lived here, so it does make sense for him to continue doing this and its getting very slow and annoying. But I am now wondering if i''ve made an error and he could, if he wanted examine everything I've been doing for the last year. But then I guess so could anyone else who was going to wipe the system.
As far as I am aware he takes an image of the memory, wipes and rest and then reinstalls what was there, creating a much faster, less clogged laptop.
Tell me, am I being moneysaving, bonkers or savvy but just need a few words of advice on what to do before Saturday (collection).
Thanks.

Just act normal when you collect it.
If you've cleared the history, it's fine. I don't think many would go to the trouble of recovering Internet cache to see what's been accessed unless we're talking a police technical forensics team...
If you're okay with giving him your laptop, he probably has the impression you haven't been doing anything dodgy anyway. If there's nothing staring him in the face on it, then it won't raise suspicions.0 -
Why not do it yourself? All you need is an external hard drive, which you should anyway for your important data....or if you have a separate partition on your existing hard drive you can move your important data there and then run a Factory Restore.

If your on good terms then can't really see problem0

Ok, maybe i am over thinking things then. Thanks.
Maybe I could do it myself, but I never have done and wouldn't have a clue where to start. Windows for Dummies springs to mind ...lol.
I don't have a back up hard drive as such, but I do keep backups on memory sticks and some other stuff is on the family pc.
As I said I have nothing to hide, just my personal thoughts on a painful year should he choose to peruse through, but like I said it would need recovering first. I used to always use In private browsing in case he came round to see the kids or babysit and want to use a pc, but its only ever me who uses my laptop, so i stopped.
Thanks for your help.0 -
If you want to be really paranoid, he could have been reading your PC remotely over the network he set up. Would you know?
If it bothers you what he might see or do, take the PC to another firm and pay the actual price. Only you know if he can be trusted.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Do it yourself...not because you don't trust him, but because you should anyway. It's easy.

there's a thread on how to do it yourself above.

As you are on good terms, why not get him to show you what he does and then next time you can do it yourself.0
